  20. This is updated firmware (version 1.01) of the RioVolt SP-250 US and
  21. European releases (part numbers 28260039-00x and 28260047-00x) only.
  22. This firmware will not work with other versions of the RioVolt.  This
  23. update addresses the following issue:

  32. This file is provided as is.  Follow the instructions below to update the
  33. firmware on your RioVolt properly.  All publicly released firmware
  34. versions are available from our website at http://www.riohome.com.

  41. You should print this document for easy reference.
  42.  
  43. To update the firmware on the RioVolt, please do the following:
  44.  
  45. 1) Download the file riovolt250_101-firmware.exe (for PC users) or
  46. riovolt250_101-firmware.hqx (for Mac users) from our website.  Run this
  47. file, and note the location that the files were extracted to (for PC users,
  48. the default location will be c:\riovolt)
  49.  
  50. 2) Copy the file SP-250.HEX to the root of a CD (not to a subfolder on the 
  51. CD; often, the location will be D:\SP-250.HEX).  Refer to the documentation
  52. that came with your CD burner software for further assistance.  This file must
  53. be exactly SP-250.HEX on the CD; any changes in the file name will result in
  54. it not being read properly by the player.

  56. 3) Insert this CD into the RioVolt, and power up the unit.  We recommend 
  57. plugging the unit into an electrical outlet before flashing.  If the 
  58. flashing process is interrupted for any reason due to lack of power to 
  59. the unit, the RioVolt will no longer function properly.  After a few
  60. seconds, you should see "upgrade" on the display, and the unit will power
  61. down.  Remove the CD from the RioVolt.

  63. 4) The firmware is now upgraded.

  65. NOTE:  Do not copy other files to this CD, and attempt to use it in the
  66. RioVolt.  The unit will attempt to flash the firmware when it detects
  67. this firmware file at the root level of the CD.
